New Uses for Old Furniture

What are you supposed to do with those bunk beds once the kids are gone? Do you have an old trunk that your grandmother left to you that she brought with her from the motherland? These pieces have memories that need to be respected. It’s time to give them a new life and infuse a little uniqueness into your home at the same time.

Let us start with the old trunk. Do a quick Google search on the name and manufacturer if there are any defining marks. I would never suggest that you sell it but, with this knowledge you can treat it properly. You may not want to cover it in stickers like a set of kid’s bunk beds or turn it into a planter for your garden. Consider taking it to get restored and give it the respect it deserves.

Speaking of cheap bunk beds, they don’t have to be used as beds. You can replace the couch in your den or living room with a set of twin over full bunk beds and add a little uniqueness to that space. They double your seating space, are much more comfortable than a pullout coach. You may want to strip those stickers off and give them a fresh coat of finish first though.

Do you have a rear projection, big screen TV that doesn’t work anymore? Inside of every one of these TVs is a high efficiency mirror that you can use in your home. I have one and if I can get my hands on more I am going to use their unique shape to create a design on my wall. They are like puzzle pieces for the design minded individual.
These are just a few ideas to help you start a new life for some old pieces. Don’t just look at bunk beds, trunks and TVs. Look at every piece you have and see if they can be given new life.
